About me…

How much time do you have? (just kidding…) If you want to know how I got into poetry, please have a look at my poem Dear Reader, which you can find here. It’s just a story of a blue-collar street kid touched by the magic and power of words to change the world. I tried the college route to get a degree in English/Creative Writing but I was never able to complete it. That didn’t stop me, though. I read as much poetry as I could along the way, getting inspired by the likes of Guillaume Apollinaire, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Beat poetry, Surrealist poetry, ancient Roman poetry and above all, Dante Alighieri who blessed the world with the greatest poem of all time (imo) The Divine Comedy.

And with these inspirations, it’s my hope to stand on their shoulders surveying my current landscape and write poetry of that caliber to expand the consciousness of my fellow men and women to see more, be more, know more and live more abundantly.

Given what’s been going on in this world since 2020, I’ve become aware of some really interesting—and at times disturbing—truths. My poetry is an attempt to capture those truths and reveal them in a way that’s easy for anyone to understand and relate to. Ironically, I’ve been finding those who’ve never read a poem in their entire lives respond to my work with great interest and enthusiasm. And for that, I’m truly grateful.

Part of my mission is to challenge the poetic status quo (if there is such a thing) and shine a light on realities their work often overlooks and/or refuses to even look at.

I’m all for Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Expression! Poetry is the last bastion of it and if you feel for some reason only certain speech should be allowed, then we won’t be a good fit. It’s ok for you to move on.

Another part of my mission is to celebrate the power of Imagination in being able to create a new reality. Words express and embody thoughts, and certain thoughts have created the reality we’re living in today. With every verse, I challenge the preconceived notions that seek to confine us within limiting boxes.

I want this Stack to be a place for all to explore and reflect on their true selves, transcending all boundaries and limitations imposed by culture, religion, politics, history, etc.

Together, through the alchemy of words, we can rise above our divisions and foster a world where the kaleidoscope of human individuality is respected and cherished.

In short, you can consider me your friendly neighborhood poetry disruptor.
