The Victory Palace Playlist - June 2024

Kicking off the summer with some new grooves and works in progress...

What’s up everyone? It’s Victory Palace in “da house” kicking out some jams from his internal radio! Some of these songs inspired some poetry that’s currently being worked on as well.

Ennio Morricone – My Name is Nobody

This is the title track to the film of the same name; it’s one of those Spaghetti Westerns from the 60s many of which were scored by the maestro himself. I love it because it’s such a bouncy melodic tune with quirky vocal effects. It actually inspired a poem which I’m putting the finishing touches on. I figure we could all use a little bouncy Italian music in our lives – no one does music quite like the Italians. Ask me how I know? wink wink.

Paul Mauriat – Love is Blue

A simply beautiful song—again from the 60s (can you see a pattern here? Yes, I’m stuck in the 60s) which kind of reminds me of the title track to The Omega Man soundtrack. This was a song that was playing while my wife and I were driving around one afternoon during the plandemic hysteria and all the mind control going on at the time trying to scare everyone; and that no matter what, our love would go on forever, whether in this world or the next. A poem to this effect is also in progress.

This appears on the compilation Instro Hipsters a Go-Go that’s like a soulful madrigal for a time gone by.

The Green Hornet TV Series Music part 1

Some of you boomers might remember this show with one of the coolest cars ever, The Black Beauty, as well as the grooviest rendition of the classical song “Flight of the Bumble Bee”. Someone actually went to the trouble of painstakingly editing the sound effects track to grab as much of this cool music as possible.

Victory Palace – Would you…?

It’s yours truly asking all of humanity that fateful question: would you be able to leave behind all the illusory things you identify with and recognize your humanity, the same humanity that’s in the heart of everyone, and unite for a common cause - the only cause - our freedom?

I’ve got a whole bunch of other poems in various stages of development which will fall from its poet-tree when they’re ripe.
